Global Goodness

EFL launched our Global Goodness program in 2019 as an integrated approach to our sustainability agenda. The embodiment of the
late Ms. Sabrina Yusoof's vision was to engage in sustainable projects that advance societal goals as she believed the power to transform the world lies within us.

These long-term projects create a significant positive impact on the environment and community ecosystems across our global operations. We continue to encourage employee engagement and seek out partnerships to add value to our efforts. As a corporate entity, it is part of our responsibility to foster a more conscious life to sustain our planet.

Dedicated to Sabrina

In loving memory of the late Ms. Sabrina Yusoof, who endeavored to transform the world into a better place by putting her heart and soul into projects carried out under the Global Goodness initiative for EFL Global. She was passionate about creating a greener and more sustainable world for everyone through her tireless efforts. She made a profound impact on the future direction of sustainability programs by launching EFL Next Gen, a considerable effort made to invest in enlightening the future generations on sustainable development.

A spirited personality, with a tender heart whose generosity was a light we lost too soon. May her soul live on through the many precious memories we have treasured over the years. As she passes from this life, those of us who are left behind can see all that she achieved. We celebrate her extraordinary life, through the many initiatives initiated by her, remembering her legacy through the inextinguishable eternal flame burning through every project henceforth.

Play Pump, South Africa

Climate change has had a serious effect on South Africa’s growing water crisis. EFL successfully installed a Play Pump in a rural school two hours from the capital city, which now provides 500+ students and teachers with access to clean water.

Revive Bundala, Sri Lanka

Bundala National Park is the most important wetland for birds in Sri Lanka and a wintering area for migratory shorebirds. EFL is working to restore the park's habitat and increase forest cover by planting 125,000 trees over the next five years.

Moreover, we have made a significant effort to take into account the future needs and self-reliance of the community surrounding the reserve. Investing in uplifting their social wellbeing and contributing towards their economic security is a long term initiative under our Global Goodness endeavors.

Thaali Kulam, India

Bodies of water in India are no stranger to human negligence and pollution, which heavily contribute to the growing water crisis in the country. Thaali Kulam, located in South Chennai, India, is a non-system pond that lacks proper bunds and required a complete ecological restoration to continue to survive. EFL partnered with the Environmentalist Foundation of India (EFI) to restore inlets for maximum efficiency and flood resistance, as well as restore the water-holding capacity of the pond.

Conserving Ecosystems on Land and Water

As our logistics solutions are delivered using air, ocean, and land freight, we are committed to conserving interconnected ecosystems in a delicate balance on land and water. The importance of protecting the world's biodiversity is a priority that has been integrated into our sustainability agenda.

Efforts to protect life below water and on land, set in motion conservation projects and relief operations where the paramount task was laid before us to mitigate risk for all species. We helped affected fishing communities and assisted the authorities engaged in cleaning up the chemical and nurdle-strewn beaches after the X-Press Pearl disaster. Further, we have setup four turtle hatcheries at the Bundala National Park to provide sanctuary for five endangered turtle species in Sri Lanka.

As life below water and on land coexist in an integrated social-ecological system, we are honored to play our part in preserving these miraculous ecosystems in continuous movement.

nextgen

Children are the future of our world, and as custodians of our society teaching them to appreciate their surroundings is critical to address environmental issues. EFL launched the Next Gen initiative under its Global Goodness brand to organize projects which promote the participation of children to educate them on critical challenges the world is facing on climate change leading to marine and environmental conservation. Their learning occurs through being explicitly taught by others, direct observation, participation in activities, and by sharing information on making a conscious impact towards a sustainable lifestyle. We encourage youngsters to be accompanied on projects ensuring sustainable development becomes a priority for them.

Saving the Turtle

Our strategic plan is to conserve sea turtles which broadly aims at reducing direct and indirect causes of marine turtle mortality, protecting, conserving, and rehabilitating marine turtle habitats. By building a generation that supports marine conservation through programs that present both learning opportunities and interaction, children are educated in the efforts carried out to safeguard the species.

EFL Next Gen hopes to introduce many more projects in time to come, prioritizing sustainability, and inspiring the next generation of trailblazers to safeguard our Earth.
