Key Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of EDI parsers and generators across EDIFACT, ANSI X12, XML, JSON, and flat-file formats
- Lead troubleshooting of production incidents by tracing failed messages across transport, parsing, mapping, and downstream systems, identifying root causes, and implementing permanent fixes
- Translate customer mapping specifications into configurations and code and validate complete integration flows prior to go-live
- Review designs and code from mid-level engineers and establish team standards for error handling, idempotency, reprocessing, and observability
- Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent tools to improve development, testing, documentation, and production troubleshooting
- Develop reusable AI-assisted internal tools to improve mapping, failure analysis, and regression testing
- Validate AI-generated outputs and ensure accountability for the accuracy, security, and quality of all delivered solutions
- Share effective AI development practices, prompts, patterns, and guardrails across the engineering team
- Improve development workflows, including CI/CD, automated testing, release processes, and monitoring
- Mentor engineers on EDI domain knowledge and contribute to internal technical training initiatives
- Collaborate with Product Management, Backend, DevOps, Platform teams, and customers throughout development and go-live activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of backend or integration engineering experience, including at least 6 years of hands-on EDI experience
- Deep working knowledge of at least one major EDI standard, such as EDIFACT or ANSI X12
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language, such as Python, Java, Node.js, or C#
- Strong SQL skills
- Hands-on experience with integration protocols and patterns including AS2, SFTP, REST APIs, and message queues
- Demonstrable experience using AI development tools to improve engineering workflows, with the ability to assess and validate AI-generated outputs
- Experience with GitHub Enterprise, pull requests, feature branches, and version control workflows will be an advantage
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Jenkins Pipeline, Ansible, and AWS-based architectures will be an advantage
- Experience in freight forwarding, 3PL, or supply chain environments will be an added advantage
- Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills with a focus on permanent solutions
- Strong judgment and accountability when working with AI-assisted development tools
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams
- Strong mentoring and knowledge-sharing capabilities
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
