EFL Global Wins Green Business Leadership Award in Transport and Logistics
November 06, 2026

EFL Global has won the Green Business Leadership of the Year Award 2026 in the Transport and Logistics sector, presented by the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka (GBCSL) at the 15th Annual Green Building Awards and Green Economy Forum 2026.

Presented following a formal assessment, the award recognizes the company’s efforts to embed environmental sustainability into its logistics operations through emissions monitoring, resource efficiency, operational optimization and stakeholder engagement.

Guided by its vision of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, EFL Global has made decarbonization a strategic priority and is working towards science-based targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Its roadmap includes collaboration with third-party service providers to decarbonize its supply chain, the introduction of renewable energy at leased facilities, and exploration of electric vehicles and other lower-carbon logistics solutions.

To support this work, the company collects and validates data on Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, alongside relevant Scope 3 emissions across its value chain, in line with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1. It uses the GLEC Framework and Clean Cargo methodologies to calculate shipment-level emissions, supporting a more detailed understanding of emissions associated with freight movements.

An initiative to integrate its CargoWise enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with an emissions data management platform is intended to further improve data accuracy. This forms part of the company’s ongoing work to strengthen emissions monitoring and reporting.

At the same event, Semini Hasanthi, Manager, Sustainability at EFL Global, received the Outstanding Green Professional of the Year Award 2026. The recognition acknowledged her contribution to translating the company’s sustainability ambitions into practical programs, strengthening emissions management and reporting, and advancing its decarbonization agenda.

The two awards recognize both the company’s sustainability efforts and the contribution of individual leadership to their implementation. Looking ahead, EFL Global plans to strengthen environmental governance, improve emissions monitoring, engage stakeholders across its value chain and implement practical decarbonization initiatives in support of its longer-term objectives.
